Regional Long Term Care Ombudsman – Cheyenne, WY

Do you love working with Seniors? Do you want to make a difference in the lives of others? We are looking for a caring and outgoing person to join our Long Term Care Ombudsman team. The LTC Ombudsman program provides service and support to the clients, families, and staff of long term care facilities across Wyoming.


1. Investigate and resolve all complaints received through the Long Term Care Ombudsman office

2. Identify and disseminate information on specific issues concerning long term care.

3. Act as an advocate for recipients of long term care services (both in and out of licensed facilities)

4. Assist and support local Advocacy groups and all other organizations concerned with ensuring the rights of residents of long term care facilities.

5. Operate as a referral service for residents (of long term care facilities) to resolve any problems they may have in the areas of: transfers, Title XIX, alternatives to nursing homes, etc.

6. Coordinates training and workshops with the Long Term Care Ombudsman.

7. Update client contacts, cases, meetings, and other required information into the Ombudsman Manager Program within the specified period of time.

8. Other duties as assigned.


B.S./B.A. degree in Social Work or related field desired; or a minimum of three years experience working in other human services field. Must demonstrate sound oral and written communication skills.

Must be able to understand statutes, regulations, policies and other administrative procedures, that govern the lives of individuals receiving long term care services. Must understand the medical, financial and psycho-social problems of the clients receiving long term care services. Must be able to attain a state certification as an Ombudsman (training will be provided).

Must have interest and dedication to the problems and concerns of individuals receiving long term care services. Must strive for the betterment of services provided to clients receiving long term care services (both individually and for the entire community).

The Long Term Care Ombudsman must be and remain independent of any/all agencies that provide long term care services and agencies that regulate or license these providers. Employee must be of the highest character and integrity.

Must be willing to travel extensively within the state and have a valid driver’s license and use of a reliable automobile.

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $18.00 to $19.00 /hour
